National Defense Minister Anita Anand announces that a contingent of 100 to 150 soldiers will go to Poland to help Ukrainian refugees.
A hundred of these soldiers will be deployed immediately, said the minister, who listed three areas of intervention over the coming months.
Most deployed soldiers will work in reception centers in Poland
in order to contribute to the immediate care and treatment of Ukrainian refugees .
Other members of the Canadian Armed Forces will be sent in support of a Polish-led humanitarian assistance task force.
Finally, the military will support the work of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada by
liaising with the Polish Defense Forces so that
thousands of other Ukrainians can resettle in Canada.
