Donald Trump files a complaint against the New York prosecutor to block an investigation

The lawsuit, filed in state federal court, accuses the Democratic prosecutor of violating the former president’s constitutional rights by conducting the investigation for political reasons.

Her mission is driven only by political hostility and a desire to harass, intimidate and take revenge against a simple citizen whom she sees as a political opponent., can we read in the complaint.

Letitia James launched this investigation in March 2019, suspecting the Trump Organization of having fraudulently overestimated the value of certain properties when it applied for loans to banks, and of having underestimated these same properties with the tax authorities in order to pay less tax.

According to the daily Washington post, in early December, she asked Donald Trump to come and testify in her office on January 7.

Eric Trump, one of the sons of the billionaire Republican and executive vice-president of the Trump Organization, was heard by the prosecutor’s office in October 2020.

Affected by other investigations

The former president is also targeted by other investigations in the United States.

He was heard on October 18 for a case in which demonstrators accuse his security service of having molested them six years ago.

His group is also the target of an investigation by the Manhattan district attorney into suspicion of financial crimes and insurance fraud.

In July, the Trump Organization and its loyal accountant Allen Weisselberg pleaded not guilty in a New York court to 15 counts of fraud and tax evasion. The trial is due to open in mid-2022.

Meanwhile, Donald Trump is fighting not to have to disclose years of tax returns to prosecutors, while a special congressional committee in Washington seeks access to White House documents about the attack du Capitole, which occurred on January 6, 2021.
