Japanese studio Sonic Team, publisher of the video game series starring Sega’s Blue Hedgehog, has unveiled a short trailer for its upcoming title, Sonic Frontiersa few days before the Summer Game Fest.
In the short preview presented Tuesday exclusively on the specialized site IGN, we can see Sonic go on the run and collect golden rings in a magical landscape, but including futuristic damaged artifacts. The little blue hedgehog fights robots there.
The open world, the visuals and certain game mechanics remind many Internet users and video game industry specialists of the flagship title The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and the Horizon series.
This unveiling took place a little over a week before the kickoff of the big gathering of the video game industry, the Summer Game Fest, scheduled for June 9th online. Failing to hold the Entertainment Electronic Expo (E3) this summer, several studios have chosen to unveil their novelties during this event overseen in particular by Geoff Keighley, the producer of the Game Awards, the Oscars of video games.
Other images and details about the game Sonic Frontiers should be unveiled during the Summer Game Fest.
The game is scheduled for release around the holidays in 2022.
