Chemicals used on clothing, furniture and other fabrics to retard the spread of fire would not be very effective. These products would save a few seconds only. In addition, according to information collected by journalist Valérie Levée, these flame retardant liquids can be harmful. They would seriously affect the endocrine and reproductive systems of anyone who wears clothing treated with flame retardants.
According to the expert, these products would also be used in the manufacture of pajamas for children, and there would have been a correlation between their use and problems of intellectual development.
Valérie Levée reveals to us in what type of clothing we still find these chemicals even if several Canadian laws prohibit them.
