The prosecutor of the Republic of Mulhouse had specified to AFP that a complaint had been lodged last summer for facts dating back to about 2016.

According to the sports daily L’Équipe, the investigation follows a complaint from a swimmer who trained with Agnel in Mulhouse between 2014 and 2016.

Several swimmers or former swimmers have been auditioned in recent weeks, added the French daily.

After a year spent training in the United States in the wake of his Olympic titles in London in 2012, Yannick Agnel returned to France and took a license at Mulhouse Olympic Swimming (MON) in September 2014. He there was trained for two years under the leadership of Lionel Horter, until the 2016 Olympic Games.

Yannick Agnel has one of the finest records in French swimming: he was double Olympic champion in London in 2012 in the 200m freestyle and the 4x100m relay, before being crowned world champion in these two disciplines in 2013.

The MON, where Agnel trained between 2014 and 2016, is for his part indicted (indicted) for attempted fraud for facts also dating back to 2016.

The club, which notably formed the current French Minister of Sports Roxanna Maracineanu, was in dispute with several swimmers, including Yannick Agnel, who went to court to receive the 60,000 euros that the club owed him for his last year of contract. , according to France Inter radio.
