G20 Finance: countries, including Canada, leave a meeting where Russia participates | War in Ukraine

Representatives of some G20 countries, including Canada, the United States and the United Kingdom, left the plenary session on Wednesday, which brought together finance ministers and central bank governors in Washington.

US Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen also left the room, as did the British representatives present at the meeting.

The United States had warned that it would boycott certain meetings if Russia participated.

This is the first time that the big moneymakers of the G20 have met since the invasion of Ukraine by Russia on February 24.

Western countries want to exclude Russia from the G20, but Indonesia, which chairs the group this year and presents itself as a non-aligned middle power, presents itself as being impartial.
