New Zealand: the Prime Minister postpones her wedding because of the pandemic | Coronavirus

My marriage is not going to happen, she confirmed, after detailing these new restrictions including a limit of 100 people, fully vaccinated, for any gathering or event.

I’ve just joined many other New Zealanders who have had a similar experience due to the pandemic and I’m sorry to anyone facing such a scenario., she added.

The emergence of nine cases of contamination with the Omicron variant in the same family having traveled between several cities to go to a wedding, as well as that of a cabin crew on one of the flights that this family took, led the neo-government -Zealanders to impose new restrictions from this Sunday.

Ms Ardern and her longtime companion Clarke Gayford had never announced their wedding date, but it was expected in the coming weeks.

The new restrictions, which also include wearing a mask outdoors, will be in place at least until the end of next month.

It’s life, replied Ms. Ardern, when asked about these restrictions and their consequences on her own marriage.

I am no different from the thousands of other New Zealanders who have experienced much more devastating situations due to the pandemic, including the particularly painful one of not being able to be with loved ones when they are seriously ill., she added.

New Zealand, rather spared by the COVID-19 epidemic, has officially recorded 15,104 cases of contamination and 52 deaths since the start of the pandemic.
