One Canadian killed and two injured by bullets in Mexico


A Canadian tourist was killed and two others were injured on Friday at the Xcaret Hotel, located 10 km south of downtown Playa del Carmen, Mexico, according to local authorities.

Quintana Roo State Security Chief Lucio Hernandez said on Twitter that authorities were looking for a man who was talking to the victims just before the shooting.

He shared photos of the alleged suspect wielding a pistol. He is currently on the run.

Mr. Hernandez added that the three victims were taken to the hospital, where one of them was pronounced dead.

In November 2021, a shootout between two rival gangs broke out in Puerto Morelos, in the same state, killing two suspected drug traffickers.
