Russia imposes sanctions on Boris Johnson | War in Ukraine


The Russian Foreign Ministry announced on Saturday that the ban on entering Russia also targets a number of British ministers, as well as the former Prime Minister of the United Kingdom Theresa May.

The statement from the Russian ministry quotes unprecedented hostile actions by the British government, expressed in particular in the imposition of sanctions against senior officials in Russia.

The Russophobic line of conduct of the British authorities, the main purpose of which is to create a negative attitude towards our country, the reduction of bilateral ties in almost all areas are detrimental to the well-being and interests of residents of the Britain. Any sanctions-related attack will inevitably backfire and receive a decisive response.says the press release from the Russian Foreign Ministry.

On Friday evening, Russia announced the expulsion of 18 European Union (EU) diplomats from Moscow, in retaliation for the expulsion of the 19 diplomats from the Russian mission to theEuropean Union and the European Atomic Energy Community, a body responsible for coordinating research programs on nuclear energy.

In its reaction, the European Union declared that the expulsions announced by Russia were baseless and that the diplomats of theEuropean Union targeted were working within the framework of the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations.
