Russian refinery says it was attacked by drones from Ukraine | War in Ukraine


The attack, unconfirmed by kyiv, hit the Novochakhtinski oil products factory in the Rostov region. Its operations are now suspended, says the governor, Vasily Golubev.

A video posted on social networks, the authenticity of which could not be immediately verified, shows a drone flying over an industrial area shortly before an explosion accompanied by a ball of fire.

According to Governor Goloubev, the fire started by the first attack was extinguished at the end of the morning, but the refinery will remain shut down for an indefinite period, while the damage is assessed.

Of the fragments belonging to two drones were discovered on the site, he also announced in a message on Telegram, which would mean that the devices crashed on the site, voluntarily or not.

Russia’s Energy Ministry says the fire has no impact on supplies of petroleum products in the south of the country.

The Novochakhtinsky plant, which can refine 7.5 million tons of crude oil each year, presents itself on its website as the largest supplier of petroleum products in southern Russia.
