Sega is preparing a remastered version of the classic Sonic games for June

Those nostalgic for the Mega Drive and Sega Genesis console versions will also get their money’s worth: each game can be played as it was originally designed, with the same image format.

But to celebrate 31 years of the character’s adventures, Sega also hopes to appeal to new generations, with up-to-date graphics and other improvements. New functions will be added, including birthday mode, which offers infinite lives, for example. Content can also be unlocked over the course of the missions by accumulating medallions.

The four games included in Sonic Origins are Sonic The Hedgehog and its sequel, Sonic 3 & Knuckles and sonic cd.
