The App Store is about to run a lot more ads

Since 2016, ads were visible on the App Store only in the search tab and in the results of a query. The new places where we can see them are in the tab Today (the App Store home page) and on individual app pages.

In the tab Today, ads will appear as large square cards. Internet users will be able to identify them by spotting the word Announcement inside a small blue box below the name of the adware.

For individual app pages, ads will be added below the header, in a blue section called You might also like. As the name suggests, apps similar to the one displayed will be suggested there.

Apple is now asking App Store users for permission to display personalized ads, and has been since September 2021. People who want to opt out of personalized ads permissions can go to their profile in the app ( at the top right), then press Personal recommendations and Account Settings.

The new advertising formulas will be tested shortly on the App Store, according to 9To5Mac.
