1- The Matrix and Unreal Engine 5
Epic Games grabbed crowds at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles on Thursday night. The video game giant has unveiled a cutscene of an interactive work based on the highly anticipated film The Matrix Resurrections, developed with its powerful Unreal Engine 5.
This version of the software will not be released until next year, but already we can see the technological feats it can accomplish.
Everything that is visible in the video unveiled at the Game Awards was created from scratch by the engine that uses artificial intelligence. The characters of Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Anne Moss, the stars of the fourth film in the Matrix saga, due for release on December 22, have also been generated with Unreal Engine 5.
The images are so realistic that they reflect on the increasingly thin line between reality and fiction.
The demo, which does not hide from being a promotional tool for the film and Epic Games, can be downloaded in order to interact with it, like a video game, on a PlayStation 5 (PS5) or Xbox Series console.
2- Among Us in virtual reality
The social deduction multiplayer game Among Us, which has furnished many evenings in the depths of the COVID-19 pandemic, will make its entry into virtual reality (VR).
After landing on Nintendo Switch consoles, then Xbox and PlayStation (from December 14), the Meta Quest (formerly Oculus), PlayStation VR and Steam VR are joining in.
Independent studio Innersloth has commissioned the VR title to adapt to the creator of the popular 3D game. I Expect You to Die, VR Schell Games. The release date has not been disclosed.
3- Another video game for Dune
The story of Dune, whose most recent film was directed by Quebecer Denis Villeneuve, will have its video game. A first trailer for the real-time strategy game was unveiled Thursday night at the Game Awards.
Appointed Dune: Spice Wars, the title will allow players to embody different factions, according to its developer, Shiro Games. An early PC version of the game is slated for the next year.
Another video game about Dune is in preparation.
4- A sequel to Alan wake
The Game Awards ceremony revealed that a sequel was in preparation for the video game Alan Wake. Fans of the title released in 2010 (and remastered this year) can expect a game more horror and survival oriented this time around.
The launch is scheduled for 2023 on the Epic Game Store, but also on the most recent Xbox and PlayStation consoles.
5- A new overview of the game Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League
The Rocksteady studio, known for its games with the character Batman, announced in August 2020 that they were working on an action title about the antihero group Suicide Squad. Now we know a little more about the title scheduled for 2022 on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X.
