Ukrainians continue to give ground near Lysychansk | War in Ukraine


By the very admission of the Ukrainian army general staff, Russian troops have over the past few hours conquered the villages of Loskutivka and Rai-Oleksandrivka, to the south-west of Lyssytchansk.

A spokesman for the army of the self-proclaimed pro-Russian republic of Luhansk, Lieutenant Colonel Andrei Marochko, assured Thursday that Ukrainian troops in Lysychansk and Sievierodonetsk should be physically surrounded very soon and should fall back if they do not want to be killed or captured.

Their resistance makes no sense, it is futile. I think that at the rate our soldiers are going, very soon the entire territory of the Luhansk People’s Republic will be liberated. »

According to the Ukrainian army, the Russian forces are also trying to seize areas overlooking the highway linking Bakhmut to Lysytchansk to cut the supply lines of the Ukrainian army.

These two cities, which had around 100,000 inhabitants each before the war, are the last in the Luhansk region to escape Russian control. However, they are greatly destroyed and deserted.
