Why are smokers unequal to lung cancer?


Examples are all around us: some people smoke their whole lives without developing cancer, while non-smokers end up with lung cancer. By comparing the genetic mutations that occurred in the cells of many participants, a team of researchers found that not all cells and not all people accumulate these mutations at the same rate. Sophie-Andrée Blondin discusses the experience with Johan Bossé, researcher at the Institut universitaire de cardiologie et de pneumologie de Québec.
